Ras Kuuku Crowned As Reggae Dancehall Artiste of The Year At The 2020 VGMA

The Ghetto Youths president and the founder and CEO of PUOM Movement Kojo Kuranchie a.k.a Ras Kuuku was last night crowned the overall Reggae and Dancehall artiste at this years Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). The VGMA came off last night at the Accra International Conference Center and this years event lasted for two days, thus, 28th and 29th  respectively. The event saw performances from the likes of EL, Strongman, Eno Barony, Sister Afia, Ras Kuuku, Medikal, the super powerful Hi - Life band Nakorex and many more other great stars.

This years event was hosted by one of Ghana's finest gentlemen, Simply KOD and the gorgeous Berla Mundi who thrilled audience with laughter and gave them a wonderful show. The red carpet was coordinated by the famous actor James Gardiner and the beautiful Regina Van Helvet.

The Reggae Dancehall category has always been fiercely contested by two of Ghana's great talents, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale. But this year they both missed out due to a ban placed on them by the organizers of the event due to a misunderstanding which occurred on stage at last years event. PUOM president Ras Kuuku has always been nominated in that category but always loses out to Stonebwoy, who has won the Reggae Dancehall artiste for four(4) times in a roll.

This years category was also contested fiercely with the likes of Epixode, Samini, AK Songstress, Jupiter and J. Derobie all making it to the list. Many suggested that Epixode could pull a surprise looking at the energy and works he's released but the 'Me Mpaebo' hit maker Ras Kuuku won the night to the admiration of everybody.

Ras Kuuku released one of the biggest Reggae albums of all time last year titled 'Kuntunkunuku the Heaviest'. The album saw features from many great talents from different genres of music. The album featured the likes of MzVee, Samini, Stonebwoy, Rudebwoy Ranking, The Carey James, Black Prophet, Bramma and the PUOM music protege Yes Jah. The album also had one of the most inspirational and touching songs titled 'Me Mpaebo' which was a prayer song made to Jah so it's not surprising that Jah has answered his prayers. The album also has songs like Your Eyeball which featured Samini. The album was in do doubt a Reggae masterpiece.

This years event also saw winners like Fameye who won the new artiste of the year. Cina Soul, Okyeame Kwame, Kidi, Dopenation, Kofi Mole, Medikal all took home awards for their works and contributions to the Ghana Music Industry.

In all the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was organized properly with quality sound and proper lightening systems. The security checks were very active and proper checks were put in place to help curb any problems. We congratulate all the winners at this years event and wish them the best.
